Google Adsense is one of the most popular and powerful forms of advertising on the web today, with several billion dollars in annual ad revenue. Due to its popularity, Google also has strict policies for publishers who use their service, requiring them to adhere to strict content standards and policies as well as formatting rules before they can earn any money with Adsense. While these rules can be hard to follow, it’s possible to get fast approval by following these six steps in order.

Step 1: Check the Eligibility Requirements

The first step is ensuring you're eligible. As a general rule, Google only accepts publishers located within North America, South America, Europe and Australia. The service also has some more specific eligibility requirements like: individuals must be 18 years of age or older; legal entities must be incorporated in an appropriate country; government entities must provide official documentation of authority to use their domain name (e.g., by providing a certified copy of their business license); and businesses using their domain name for promotional purposes aren't eligible for participation. You can check if your site meets these criteria on your Dashboard > Settings > Site settings > Eligibility Verification Tool . If it does not meet these criteria, do not proceed with further steps, as your site will never get approved!

Step 2: Create a List of Targeted Keywords

Selecting keywords is a crucial step, since they determine which advertisements your site will be eligible for. Now, while you can definitely take a dictionary approach here and throw every keyword you can think of into your list, you'll have more success by targeting only keywords that are highly relevant to your brand. That way, you get increased exposure with words that actually matter. For example, if your site is about food-allergies, you should probably focus on search terms like food allergies. Once you've identified these types of words—and done some research to ensure there's a solid return on investment (ROI)—add them to your list.

Step 3: Write New Content Based on Keywords

And while most experts agree that search engine optimization (SEO) is complicated, there are a few simple tricks you can use right now. Specifically, if you want free traffic, focus on creating new content that’s targeted at keywords people are already searching for. Whether it’s a recipe, how-to guide or expert roundup post, make sure it answers a common question and include your target keyword in your title. Even better? Have other people link back to your page by including links within other posts on your site or guest posting on sites with relevant audiences—the more authoritative sites you build links on, and higher their domain authority, the better!

Step 4: Ensure That Your Website Host is Compatible with AdSense

Not all websites are able to host adverts, especially since some web hosts might object to your use of them. If you want your website to display ads generated by AdSense, then you need a website host that can cope with different adverts and formats; otherwise, it’s pointless even applying for an account. If you already have a website hosted on a domain name such as WordPress or HostGator, then there’s nothing further that needs doing here. However, if you don’t currently have a hosting provider, then be sure to choose one that supports dynamic HTML (DHTML) and has sufficient bandwidth. You also need to check whether your chosen provider is willing to accept AdSense ads on its servers before going any further.

Step 5: Correct Any Errors on Your Site

Google looks at your site's code as part of its approval process. If you've made any mistakes that make it difficult for them to crawl your site or index your content, then you could find yourself rejected without much explanation. Before submitting an application, double-check your website to ensure that there aren't any lingering coding issues or potential URL problems. While not 100% necessary, most advertisers recommend cleaning up these potential issues because they could cause an application rejection down the road if Google flags them again. These issues might not stop you from getting approved today, but if you don't address them now, it will be tough to get approved later!

Step 6: Wait for Approval

Getting an approval email might take a few days, so be patient. After you have submitted your application, you will get an automated message telling you that it's been received. You may also receive a phone call from someone at Google asking for additional information about your website and ad campaign. If you do not receive any notice after 10 days or if you do not hear back within a couple of weeks, resubmit your application. Be prepared for another back-and-forth process before final approval. It can take anywhere between four and six weeks to get all necessary approvals and have your website live on AdSense. This delay is common with most program approval processes, but make sure you follow up with Google every week until you are approved. They appreciate knowing you are still interested in joining their program.
