10 Ways To Get Blog Traffic || Blogging Resources

Looking to increase the number of visitors to your blog? You’re in luck! There are plenty of things you can do to help boost your traffic, and this article has the 10 best tips I’ve found to help you get there. Enjoy!

You’ve finally finished your first blog, and now you’re ready to share it with the world! However, it can be hard to get people to notice your content. This guide will show you 10 ways to increase traffic to your blog that you might not have considered before.

1. Optimize your Blog for SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and optimizing your content for SEO is a great way to ensure that more people will find it when they search for specific keywords. Some of these steps can be time-consuming but it’s worth it in the long run. Start by doing keyword research, after which you’ll want to organize your content around those keywords and titles. Other important steps include: creating an image sitemap, adding social media links to posts and website pages, writing meta descriptions (descriptions of your site), among others. And don’t forget to check out some tips on getting high quality backlinks! Make sure you know how each one works so that you can reap their benefits!

2. Be social on all relevant platforms

No matter how great your content is, no one is going to find it if you’re not everywhere they are. Sure, blogging and social media isn’t for everyone, but if your aim is to increase traffic to your site, you need to be where your audience is. In 2017, that means being on every major platform with a sizable following. So start sharing and posting stories across Facebook (where there are over 1 billion users), Instagram (700 million), Pinterest (250 million), Twitter (318 million) ,LinkedIn (100 million) and even Snapchat and Tumblr. Depending on what kind of content you produce, think about how to frame it best for each platform: Are you funny? Snappy? Helpful?

3. Write Guest Posts

If you want to increase traffic, begin by writing guest posts for other blogs in your niche. This is a great way to not only increase your audience and exposure, but also establish relationships with influencers that can help your business grow. It's recommended that you write no more than one or two a month and be very selective about where you place them, as quality over quantity is key here. (For inspiration on how to write an effective guest post, check out our previous post.) The idea behind guest posting is simple: Write good content and ask nicely if they'd like to publish it on their site. Even if they don't say yes, consider it a win you've still increased your exposure without having to lift a finger! And even if they do say yes, try asking anyway; some people are simply too busy to accept all offers sent their way.

4. Boost your Content with viral Tools

There are certain tools that can help you amplify your content’s reach and get more people to check it out. One example is a site called Reddit, which acts as a social news platform where people find and share content. Reddit has several channels organized around specific topics, including music, movies, and gaming. Submitting your post to these channels can help you tap into communities of people who are likely to share your content across Facebook or Twitter.

5. Go where your Audience

Consider where your audience hangs out. Are they on Facebook, or Instagram? Maybe Twitter is more their style. It may be that they’re part of a group that has its own culture and etiquette you need to follow (looking at you, Reddit). Once you know where your readers are, make sure your posts are being shared there by encouraging re-tweets and Facebook shares. If people don’t know how to spread the word about what you’ve written, they can’t read it!

6. Join Facebook groups and pages with similar interests

Even though Facebook is a social network, not a blogging platform, there are still plenty of ways to use it to increase traffic to your website. One of them is joining and interacting with Facebook groups and pages related to your niche. Not only can you post links and articles on your page or group, but you can also send traffic from your page or group members to your website. The key here is engaging with people rather than posting links so try asking questions that will get responses from a variety of people in different groups and let things organically develop from there. In order for Facebook groups to really help boost site traffic, you’ll need hundreds or thousands of followers so go ahead and consider setting up one yourself!

7. Use Pinterest Correctly

If you want to increase traffic to your site, it is vital that you make sure that you are using Pinterest correctly. Many bloggers completely ignore Pinterest because they do not feel confident in their abilities or they simply don’t know how it works. There are some simple things that you can do to help get more traffic through Pinterest and they are all listed below. This list is not exhaustive; there are plenty of other ways to promote your site on Pinterest but these will be good places for you to start.

8. Don’t forget Email Marketing!

If you’re looking to increase traffic to your website, then Email Marketing is a must-have tactic in your arsenal. Email marketing is also one of the easiest and most effective ways to get more traffic. Here are a few tips to help you get started: Use A Call-To-Action: When people read emails on their smartphones, they expect that they’ll be able to take action from what they read. Make sure you always include a call-to-action at the end of your emails so readers know exactly what to do next. Keep It Short And Sweet: The average attention span for internet users has decreased significantly over recent years. Make sure your content isn’t too long or complicated; if it takes more than two minutes to read, chances are it won’t get read at all! Include An Image: The human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text alone.

9. Create Engaging Blog Posts

If you want to increase traffic to your site, creating engaging content that resonates with your target audience is a must. Developing a loyal community of readers and commenters can drive more traffic than anything else you can do on your own site. And if you’re interested in writing for other sites, or have ideas for guest posts on popular blogs, working hard to build a relationship with other bloggers will pay off big time down the road. Just make sure it’s good content; don’t send them links to low-quality stuff!

10. Fabricate associations with different Bloggers in your Niche

It’s not just about traffic. More often than not, bloggers who get together to help each other succeed are more likely to comment on each other’s posts, share links and cross-promote one another. That’s why joining a blogging community can be a great way to build relationships with people who are in your niche or want to be there. Be prepared to make an effort though; blogging communities usually require members to participate regularly in discussions and offer assistance when needed. If you're thinking of joining a blogging community but aren't sure where to start, here's a list of some of my favorites.
