8 Ways to Make Money From Home

Making money from home seems like the ideal job, but if you’re new to the idea, it can be difficult to get started. To help you out, we’ve put together this list of 8 ways you can use to make money from home today. You may not believe it, but these jobs really do exist! So scroll down and learn more about each one and the steps required to start making money from home today!

1) Amazon Mechanical Turk

Mechanical Turk is Amazon's take on micro-jobs. These are small miniscule-payments for simple tasks that you can do around the house. Some examples are listing products, data entry, copy paste work and so on. The great thing about these jobs is that they're super simple and super quick. You do them while watching TV or just surfing around online like I was doing earlier today while taking screenshots for a post. I'll show you how much money I made with MTurk in my next post. But if you have some free time and don't mind doing some easy work, then Mechanical Turk is an awesome way to make a few extra bucks from home. 2) Swagbucks

Swagbucks is an online rewards and loyalty program that lets you earn points called SB for watching videos, taking surveys, shopping online, and more. You can redeem your SB for free gift cards from Amazon, Starbucks, Target, and over 200 other popular retailers. And when you sign up under me as your Swagbucks Referral Partner (this means I’ll get a referral bonus if you join through my link), you’ll get a $5 bonus! For more information about Swagbucks visit our About page. This post contains affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

3) Upwork

We already told you about Upwork in a recent post. If you’re looking for a way to make money online, then getting started with Upwork is a great option. You can earn $100s for doing work as simple as running errands or taking photos. This is also a fantastic way to break into freelancing if you’re just starting out. You can work up from simple jobs and eventually be making thousands of dollars per job if your skills are worth it. Use our link, and we both get an extra $500 when you complete your first job within 90 days! And, no worries; there are plenty of simple jobs on Upwork that don't pay that much.

4) Fiverr

Do you have a hobby? Can you do it better than most people? Can you make money at it? That’s where Fiverr comes in. With a very clever business model, Fiverr allows anyone with any level of experience and expertise to charge people $5 for any small job. You can offer graphic design, marketing services, or even simple math help. For me personally, I use Fiverr for tasks that are very dull but time-consuming (like image resizing). Whatever your skill is, there’s likely someone out there willing to pay for it on Fiverr. If you’re just starting out, here’s my quick guide to getting started on Fiverr .

5) Surveys

This is something a lot of people have never considered. It's one of those things that has been around forever and most people just ignore it. I'm not sure why. Maybe they think it's not worth their time or maybe they don't realize how much money you can actually make from surveys and focus groups. However, doing surveys is a quick way to earn some extra cash and it's easy if you know what you're doing. Here are some tips for getting started with making money from home taking surveys I've done survey work before, but only as an employee (not self-employed). I found survey work to be quite boring. You need discipline and patience when working on your own projects. Focus on quality rather than quantity when responding to these surveys. If you do too many of them in a short period of time, you'll lose interest quickly and won't qualify for as many rewards/payments. That's my experience anyway.

6) Freelance Writing from Home

Finding freelance writing jobs on your own can be a long, tiresome process. Instead of doing all that digging and searching, you could instead outsource it to one of several freelance-writing companies. These businesses will hire writers and post assignments for them; you complete them for a set fee. For example, if you like shopping, you could apply to become a writer for Indeed Prime. Then when online shoppers need product descriptions or other help with their purchases, they can turn to your profiles on Indeed Prime rather than typing in search terms on Google and getting results from sites that likely include ads (which can get expensive). Additionally, with skills like SEO optimization and web research under your belt, opportunities abound as a freelancer—more so than most offline careers.

7) Virtual Assistant services

Working as a virtual assistant will allow you to work remotely and set your own schedule. First, you’ll need experience with administrative work (email, spreadsheets, documents) along with great communication skills. You’ll also need to be self-motivated and willing to get out of your comfort zone. If that sounds like you, then go ahead and send off those resumes. And if not, then read on for another idea! It is true that some bloggers earn well over $100,000 per year from their blogs. It is also true that most people who try blogging give up within a few months. So how do you make money blogging? The simple answer: post regularly and share valuable content on your social media channels (Facebook, Twitter etc.). In order to make money blogging there are two main strategies: building an audience or selling products/services.

8) Classy Career Girl

If you’re looking for ways to make money from home, a great place to start is with affiliate marketing. This means promoting someone else’s product or service on your own site. If you already have a website, put an affiliate link up (this can be on your sidebar or in a specific widget), and if anyone clicks through that link and buys something, you get paid a percentage of that sale. Some affiliates can make thousands per month by doing pretty simple things online like writing out their posts about how they use some beauty products. Anyone who has good content and knows how to write for search engines can be successful with affiliate marketing as long as they know what their audience is interested in and what words or phrases those people type into Google.
